Barbour County - Steve Fryer leaves after a single season at Barbour County. This will be the ninth hire for the Jaguars in the past dozen seasons. During that time they have won a total of three games. 2026 Season - Juan Williams returns to the place where he got his first head coaching job back in 2006. Barbour County did enjoy some success during his first stint with the program. Maybe they can find that spark once again. His teams at Barbour County won 38 of the 52 games they have won since the school opened. Cedar Bluff - Garrett Crane leaves Cedar Bluff after only three seasons with an overall record of 11-20. 2026 Season - Cole Murphy played football at Gaylesville before graduating in 2014. Murphy signed a football scholarship with Birmingham Southern, where he played at defensive back and linebacker through the 2017 season. Murphy started his coaching career at Minor High School before moving on to Spring Garden as an assistant and head baseball coach. He spent the last two seasons at McAdory. Elba - Jon Cooper spent just one season at Elba before retiring from the sidelines. His only team in 2025 finished with a record of 3-8 losing in the first round of the playoffs. 2026 Season - Austin Johnson grew up in Elba playing quarterback for the Tigers and played for the Alabama Crimson Tide. This will be his first stint as a head football coach. He has also coached baseball and basketball. J.F. Shields - William Flowers 2026 Season - Vacant LaFayette - Juan Williams resigned his position as head football coach at LaFayette after six seasons leading the program. His teams finished a combined 24-35 and did not reach the playoffs his last four seasons. 2026 Season - Douglas Jones, who graduated from LaFayette in 2008 after lettering in football for the Bulldogs as a receiver from 2004 until 2007. Previously Jones was at Pike Road High School doubling as the varsity wide receiver coach and a head coach at Pike Road Junior High School. Jones received his degree from Jacksonville State University and a master's degree from the University of West Alabama before returning to LaFayette in 2014. Maplesville - Brad Abbott retired from the sidelines following a stellar career as a head football coach. His record over fourteen seasons is an outstanding 117-53. Each of his teams reached the playoffs and he capped off his career with a perfect 15-0 record and a state championship in 2025. Abbott's record in seven seasons at Maplesville was 72-20 and 17-6 in the playoffs. 2026 Season - Brent Hubbert returns from a one year retirement to take over the reins at a school he is very familiar with having been the head coach at Maplesville for fifteen seasons. He brings home a record of 241-59 including three consecutive state championship rings. Marengo - Katrell Watters leaves Marengo after four seasons with a record of 12-28 with no playoff appearances during his time leading the Panthers. 2026 Season - Antoine Autrey arrives at Marengo with over ten years of coaching experience in hopes of getting the panthers back on a winning track. Phillips Bear Creek - Christopher Gillum exits Phillips after a single season with a record of 3-7. The Bears are looking to the future with their next hire in hopes of bringing back a winning program. They have not seen a winning season since 2017. 2026 Season - Vacant Ragland - Wes Tidwell served as the head coach at Ragland the past five seasons with a record of 31-25. Each of those teams reached the playoffs but only managed to win once during that time. 2026 Season - Deondre Woody was approved as the new athletic director and head football coach for the Ragland High School Purple Devils in January. Woody attended Springville High School, graduating in 2014. He arrives from St. Clair County High School where he has served as the inside linebackers coach and special teams coordinator for the Fighting Saints. He also has been at Springville, Etowah and Ashville. Red Level - Kenny Skipper leaves Red Level after nine seasons with a record of 23-65. His teams failed to reach the playoffs in any season. Skipper will remain with the program as the school's athletic director. 2026 Season - Griffin Windham begins this next chapter with strong familiarity with the Red Level football program having served as an assistant. Windham coached football and basketball at Red Level High School. Sweet Water - Pat Thompson retired as the head football coach at Sweet Water after a dozen seasons leading the program. Over those twelve seasons his teams won 206 games as well as twenty-two playoff games. The 2021 squad finished the season with a perfect 14-0 record and a state championship. His final season saw the Bulldogs miss the playoffs for the first time since 2000 breaking a streak of twenty-four consecutive playoff appearances. 2026 Season - Drew Luker was officially named the head coach at Sweet Water in mid December. He called it his dream job as he returns to where he played football and his father won five state championships as the head football coach. Luker is a 2008 graduate of UAB where he played football. He spent time as an assistant coach at Demopolis, W.S. Neal and T.R. Miller before landing his first job as a head coach at McKenzie for two seasons. He returned to Sweet Water in 2022 working under Coach Thompson. Waterloo - Brad Palmer resigned after six seasons as the Cougars head coach.
